Books for Children

HealthPoint is part of Reach Out and Read, a national nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy by making books a routine part of pediatric care.

HealthPoint medical and dental providers "prescribe" reading to parents of young patients, with children ages six months to 11 invited to choose a new book to keep.

Each year, HealthPoint distributes up to 29,000 books to our pediatric patients. Funding for the books comes from the national program Reading is Fundamental, as well as from local donors.

HealthPoint also accepts used children's books for our waiting rooms. If interested in making a donation of books or organizing a book drive, please contact Laurel Humes at lhumes@healthpointfc.org or 859-655-6157.
