Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
HealthPoint's pediatricians are specialists in diagnosing and treating children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

HealthPoint is part of a nationwide study coordinated by the National Initiative for Children's Healthcare Quality. The research aims to standardize the diagnosis and care of children who have difficulty in school.

HealthPoint pediatricians participating in the ADHD study are:

  • Dr. Philip Lichtenstein, Dixie Pike center, 859-655-6100
  • Dr. John Brewer, Covington center, 859-655-6100
  • Dr. Carol Roark, Bellevue center, 859-655-6100
An estimated 5-8% of the U.S. population has ADHD. Children affected may be inattentive, easily distracted, hyperactive and impulsive. These and other symptoms make it very difficult for them to fit into a classroom learning structure.

There are several medications that can help children with ADHD, but their reactions to the medicine have to be continually monitored. HealthPoint also is working with the Covington schools to provide behavior therapy training for families of ADHD children.
